Pearl Skolnik z"l

Pearl was born and raised in Alabama, New York, where her father was a dairy farmer. After graduation from the University of Buffalo and completion of six years of educational, organizational and national leadership work in a Zionist youth movement, she made aliya in 1963.

Pearl studied for an M.A. in Jewish History at Hebrew U. and Haifa U., with a special interest in the origin of Jewish family names.

She was married to Fred, the editor-in-chief of the new Encyclopedia Judaica. They have three married children (Mira, Yoram, and Yossi) and Baruch HaShem, many grandchildren.

Pearl began working in Real Estate in Jerusalem in 1980 - working mostly with tourists and new olim. Approximately 9 years ago, she began to encourage the development of the Anglo community in Ramat Beit Shemesh, and there is now a vibrant and beautiful Torah community in that city.

She saw her work as "avodat kodesh": assisting individuals and congregations to make aliya and to remain in Israel. Having the right home, neighbors and professional opportunities will help guarantee that olim integrate successfully in Israel and, what is just as important: that they remain here!
